The cycle of documentary film screenings COMMON PEOPLE initiated by Kaunas Artists’ House (KAH) and Kitas Kinas is back for the third outdoor cinema season! This time at Kaunas culture center terrace.
The four-day camp program from August 19th till 22nd will consist of creative sessions led by Lithuanian slam laureates and creative literature workshop hosts as well as a guest author Martine Johansen. The final event of the camp will open to the public. Here the participants of the camp and Martine Johansen will present their work together with local poets who create in English.

MATTERS is announcing a second call this year for sound artists. Sound artist is a broad concept, and in the context of this platform noisemakers, experimentators, soundscapers, chaos engineers and authors of industrial are thought of as sound artists. However, if you do not associate yourself with any of the definitions above, but feel you’re a part of whatever you think industrial music and cultural field is, you’re very welcome to apply.
At the end of October of 2020, Kaunas Artists’ House, in cooperation with Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture 2021 and the cultural center LAB (Novi Sad), after an open call selected 4 artists. The artists started their participation in the international reciprocal residency programme DeMo in November.
Kaunas Artists’ House (KAH, Lithuania) together with Kulturni Centar LAB (Novi Sad, Serbia) are starting to carry out the Reciprocal Residency Programme DeMo (abbreviation of Decoding Modernity). The programme aims to explore the connections between different modernities and to unravel modernity as a phenomenon in the broader sense of time and space and across cultural, scientific, societal and industrial developments.
In the beginning of June, Matters, a platform for industrial culture, coordinated by Kaunas Artist House, has launched an open call for the selection to the compilation -Scape. A total of 38 applications by 37 artists has been received for the call, out of which 16 were by Lithuanian artists. Overall geography of the call is international: proposals were received from artists living and working in Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Bulgaria, United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, USA, Russia and Chile.
The artists participating in the 2020 edition of the Reciprocal Residency Program “DeMo” are Ginte Regina (LT) and Niamh Seana Meehan (NI). They were selected through an Open Call and will be spending February 2020 in Derry/Londonderry (Ginte Regina) and Kaunas (Niamh Seana Meehan) hosted by CCA and KAH respectively.

In 2019, Kaunas Artists’ House residency programme “Unlearning Eastern Europe”* invites guest curators from Baltic countries and aims to reconsider the contemporary issues of the region, ranging from traumas of historical past, opportunities for decolonization to strategies of memory politics or activism. During December KAH is pleased to host the third curator to participate in this year’s programme – Anete Skuja (LV).
