2019-10-12 Inconvenient FIlms | H. Farocki retrospective

October 12-13 Kaunas Artits’ House and Inconvenient FIlms presents one of the most eminent and influential contemporary German artists and filmmakers Harun Farocki (1944-2014) retrospective. It will be opened on 12 October, 3 pm. by a lecture on Farocki’s work by writer, film critic and Farocki’s colleague Michael Baute.

2019-10-04 Herbarium of the Architect

Exhibition “Architect’s herbarium” presents an imaginary map of Kaunas patterns, exploring the diversity of natural surfaces. It draws equal attention to natural and built environments, identifying different Kaunas areas not by architecture, but rather by nature. This project invites the viewers to discover daily surroundings differently and admire the phantasy of nature.

While we were deciding on the title of the show, the world’s forests withered away in flames, and lots of other things were getting out of hand too. Surprisingly, new pieces keep emerging even though nobody has time for anything at all. I just sometimes want to do the opposite of what is expected of me, and what I expect of myself.

2019-08-31/09-01 Kaunas International Carillon Music Festival 2019

49 bells, telling stories in music from the top of a bell tower – that is the carillon of Kaunas city. The carillon has inspired Kaunas city residents and guests to take a break from their everyday rush in the ever-green Vytautas the Great War Museum garden for 82 years, whilst also drawing them into a different kind of rhythm – one full of discoveries, meditative time and melody-like encounters.

“Kitas Kinas”, the educational film platform, continues its series of documentary film screenings “Common People” at Kaunas Artists’ House, at the core of which lie portraits of eccentrics and hermits, tender relationships and everyday social occurences, subcultures and communities, living in the margins of society.
