2020-10-03/04 Alexandra Pirici. Pulse. Enlivenment of the Kaunas Ninth Fort Monument

On October 3–4, from 3 to 5 pm, Kaunas Artists’ House, Kaunas Ninth Fort Museum and project space Swallow invite you to the choreographic project Pulse directed by Romanian artist Alexandra Pirici. The project is dedicated to the enlivenment of the monument to the victims of Nazism of Kaunas Ninth Fort created by sculptor Alfonsas Vincentas Ambraziūnas (1933-2020). The act is choreographed for a group of up to 50 performers and will take place in the open-air area of ​​the monument.

Kaunas Artists’ House (KAH, Lithuania) together with Kulturni Centar LAB (Novi Sad, Serbia) are starting to carry out the Reciprocal Residency Programme DeMo (abbreviation of Decoding Modernity). Matters announcing result of the open call

In the beginning of June, Matters, a platform for industrial culture, coordinated by Kaunas Artist House, has launched an open call for the selection to the compilation -Scape. A total of 38 applications by 37 artists has been received for the call, out of which 16 were by Lithuanian artists. Overall geography of the call is international: proposals were received from artists living and working in Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Bulgaria, United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, USA, Russia and Chile.

Exhibition “Architect’s herbarium” presents an imaginary map of Kaunas patterns, exploring the diversity of natural surfaces. It draws equal attention to natural and built environments, identifying different Kaunas areas not by architecture, but rather by nature. 49 bells, telling stories in music from the top of a bell tower – that is the carillon of Kaunas city.
