Presentation of a book „Kas yra filosofija?“

2020-02-18/19:00 - 21:00

On February 18, 7 pm Kaunas Artists’ House together with Lithuanian Writers’ Association and publishing house Jonas ir Jokūbas invite to a meeting of the InfoKnygos series of events, a presentation of a book What is Philosophy? (Lithuanian translation, 2019)

What is Philosophy? is the last joint work of the 20th-century French philosopher Gilles Deleuze and psychoanalyst Félix Guattari.
By expressing mistrust of identity and defending anti-individualism in politics, philosophy, and psychotherapy, these thinkers remain relevant today. According to Deleuze and Guattari, there are three great forms of thought: science, art, and philosophy, which, in different ways, curb the chaos of the world. Philosophy fulfills itself by developing concepts. Concept development is different from the scientific activity and artistic work, although all three activities are aimed

at the chaos that surrounds us. Most of the images that dominate the Deleuzian system, crowned with social and political devotion to the struggle for individual rights and freedoms, can be found in the book.

Gilles Deleuze (1925-1995), was a French philosopher, who wrote philosophical works covering the fields of post-structuralism, metaphysics, and epistemology. His philosophy also tackled politics, film, aesthetics, and religious topics. Félix Guattari (1930-1992) was a psychotherapist and creator of Schizoanalysis and Ecosophy concepts, who worked at the La Borde Psychiatric Clinic in France. Together, these representatives of continental philosophy co-authored Anti-Oedipus (1972), A Thousand Plateaus (1980), Capitalism and Schizophrenia.
