Mokumentai // „Kvailių laivas“

2021-10-14/18:30 - 21:30

The Kaunas Artists’ House programme “Mocuments” – a project for the dissemination of video art and films analysing the construction of different narratives – invites to the closing of the first films screenings cycle “Anonymous as Political”.

Films screenings cycle “Anonymous as Political” is designed to reflect one of the methods of narrative construction, in which the stories are “sounded” in a way that takes on a completely different meaning, and shows unexpected ways of assembling them.

The cycle will be extended on October 7 by a duo of artists from Hungary “Little Warsaw” presenting the film “The Ship of Fools” (2011). It’s a dramatized interpretation of a two-day real event from 2002 when a group of anarchists occupied an abandoned building in a small Italian town. The filming of this event took place in an abandoned theater building in Budapest. This sensitive film reflects the restoration of interpersonal relationships through the gradual development of a group situation using simple dramaturgical means. The conversation with the artists will be moderated by the researcher of autonomous spaces Tomas Marcinkevičius.

Movie screening is FREE. The possibility pass and the registration for the event are required. The registration form will be announced soon.

The “Mocuments” project is part of the extended program “Unlearning Eastern Europe”. This project aims to rethink the problems specific to the Eastern European region, from the traumas of the historical past, the possibilities of decolonization to the strategies of memory politics or activism.
