Garsinės peržiūros (Sound screenings), a dialogue between silent cinema and live music performances, invite you to visit Kaunas Artists’ House on 2 August, 8pm for an evening with one of the first independent hybrid films ever made.

Directed by Robert Siodmak and Edgar G. Ulmer, “People on Sunday“ (“Menschen am Sonntag“) follows the lives of a group of twenty-somethings in Berlin on one summer’s Sunday during the interwar period. Every interaction showcases the city. The characters never escape its presence, they live in the city‘s rhythm. The images of people‘s bodies, heavy with their afternoon fatigue, become connected to the empty and motionless city. A playful lightness and irony.

The music is composed and performed live by experimental jazz musicians Adas Gecevičius (drums), Simonas Sipavičius (sax) and Paulius Vaškas (guitar).
