NICHE

The Kaunas Artists' House continues its strategic direction of working with young, less represented Lithuanian artists, who create their art in Lithuania and abroad. Their aim is to strengthen the contemporary music scene in the city and increase the visibility of young composers and sound artists practitioners on the national music scene. To achieve this, they are initiating a platform for emerging composers and sound artists.

The platform has a dual objective. Firstly, it will present the practices of these artists in Kaunas, where similar events are scarce and there is no fostered alternative scene of current contemporary academic and experimental music. Secondly, the platform will create a space for young music creators to undertake music and sound art curatorial practices and increase the visibility of the art participants' work on a national scale.

The first project of this platform is called NICHE. It's a series of concerts that showcase contemporary electroacoustic music curated by the young and emerging contemporary music creator and performer, Jūra Elena Šedytė.

The cycle intends to spread and present live contemporary electroacoustic music created by the young generation of Lithuanian sound artists and composers. The cycle is not limited to contemporary music of one direction, so the program includes vocal, instrumental chamber, electronic alternative, club, and experimental music.
