TRENKSMAS

Spoken word poetry is one of the most successful phenomena in contemporary literature, combining poetry, performative arts and immediate improvisation. Anyone can become a creator-performer of poetry in this genre, so spoken word performances often become the first step towards professional creative work. In the context of “Trenksmas” literary education program, regular readings of spoken works, creative writing workshops and camps are held, the spoken word poetry and education publication “Žodžiai-pa-trankos”, several youth poetry zines are published.

The program is financed by the Lithuanian Council of Culture.

In 2024, next to the traditional poetry slams, various poetry readings and summer camp, “Trenksmas” program aims to connect and strengthen active youth spoken word communities in other cities of Lithuania. The events take place in Kaunas, Tauragė, Šiauliai and Panevėžys: each city hosts the others, with the most interesting and successful spoken word and literature events.

Literary education program “Trenksmas” is carried out in cooperation with Šiauliai Art Gallery, Tauragė Region Museum “Santaka”, “Begemotas”, cafe “Coffas”, independent art platform “FAZĖ”.
